Anthem rant to cost Gallagher in the polls

Independent candidate Sean Gallagher has slumped in the polls after he expressed he’d like to change and “modernize” the national anthem.

Bookmakers Boylesports have dropped the Dragon’s Den candidate from 1/2 to new odds of 5/6. And Michael D Higgins seems to be person to benefit from Gallagher’s opinion.

Boylesports Nicola McGeady said: “the debate on TG4 did Sean Gallagher no favours whatsoever and Labour’s Michael D Higgins is back snapping at his heels.”

“There has been an influx of bets this morning on Mr Higgins winning the race and we’re predicting he’ll be back in the pole position before election day comes.”

And on the topic of bookies odds, Paddy Power believes ‘Amhran na bhFiann’ wont be going anywhere soon with 16/1 being put on the anthem staying until at least 2016.
